BA/BS Liberal Studies

A bachelor's degree in liberal studies is an interdisciplinary degree that allows flexibility in the choice of studies or an in-depth study in an area of special interest. It also enhances problem-solving and communication skills.

Requirements
for transfer students with 90 or more credits

Major Requirements

81-85 credits

  • Upper-division credits from the arts and letters (except Wr 323), science, or social science academic distribution areas
  • four credits or an approved Writing-Intensive Course (WIC) (see schedule of classes for approved Writing Intensive Courses).
    (*A Writing-Intensive course can be included in the 81 upper-division major requirements)
  • Courses used to satisfy the major must be graded C- or above. A maximum of 12 credits may be graded P/NP.

BA Requirements

A Bachelor of Arts degree requires 12 credits in Arts/Letters (four credits must be in Fine & Performing Arts), 12 credits in Sciences/Social Sciences (four credits must be in science), and four credits in foreign language numbered 203 or higher (conducted in the target language). (28 total credits)

BS Requirements

A Bachelor of Science degree requires 12 credits in sciences (exclude math/stats), 12 credits in arts/letters and/or social sciences, and four credits in math/stats; eight of the 12 science credits must be coursework with a lab or field work (28 total credits).
