Distance Learning
Portland State University uses a Web-based course management system called WebCT. Participation in fully online or partially online courses using WebCT requires that you have unrestricted access to a personal computer (Windows or Mac) with a reliable connection to the Internet. You must also have a current version of a Web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) installed on your computer. In addition, you should be proficient using a computer and common computer software such as Web browsers, word processors, spreadsheet applications, and media players.
In order to access your online course, you will need to have an active computer account at PSU (referred to as an "Odin" account). Your Odin account will be activated by PSU Extended Studies staff, and this account will provide you with access to your course and library resources. If your class meets in person, you will be given your Odin account information at the first class session. If the class is online, your Odin account will be mailed or emailed to you.

If after reviewing the instructions for logging on to your course you encounter problems that you cannot resolve by consulting the online documentation or the PSU Help Desk, please call 503-725-4822 or email karinena@pdx.edu. Be ready to provide your name, student ID number, the course name and number and a detailed description of the problem you are encountering before calling or emailing.
Please note that you will NOT have access to your online course until after 8:00 AM on the official first day of classes for the term that you are registered. Attempts to logon to your course before that date will not be successful.
