Offerings for Personal Enrichment
Extended Studies offers a number of programs in the arts and sciences designed for people in the community interested in educational experiences for personal enrichment. PSU courses are available to individuals in the community even if they're not full-time PSU students.
Opera Appreciation Lecture Series is a series of eight lectures, each examining the cultural, historical, and conventional meanings of a famous opera. Lectures are geared to a wide audience, from the newcomer to the opera aficionado.
Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik is a five-week, total immersion program in the German languageincluding a two-week teacher's training workshopthat takes place on the campus of Lewis & Clark College in Portland.
Summer Session offers a variety of opportunities for personal enrichment. Members of the community can sign up for Summer Session courses easily via phone, fax, or online.
Extended Studies Courses other than those listed above can also be of interest to people seeking personal enrichment.
The Continuing Education Press presents a free annual handwriting improvement workshop in January, and publishes all the materials necessary for ongoing self-directed handwriting practice at home, as well as materials for beginning and experienced calligraphers alike.
Note: PSU Fall/Winter/Spring Terms also provide opportunities for personal enrichment. While they are not part of Extended Studies, regular University courses are available to nontraditional students and other community members.
